A Jungle Themed 1st Birthday Cake for a Lion King!

A fabulous little boy has been nicknamed "Christian the Lion" since he was born, so when it was time to think of a 1st birthday theme - it was a no-brainer!!
Christian truly was king of the jungle at his roaring jungle festa.
This 3 tiered cake celebrated the jungle theme with style!
As the king, of course Christian sat on top! While his animal buddies hung out on the savannah!

Christian is 1 and he is the Lion King!

and an elephant sharing some water spouts with the croc!

This really was one of my most favourite cakes to create - alot of fun was had and probably more so by Christian and his jungle buddies!!

A little nappy bundle holds Ingrid's message.

Congratulations Ingrid to this wonderful upcoming addition to your family.

Cupcakes for the School Cupcake Day

Last week, Liam's school had its annual cupcake day where all parents are asked to bake and then the yummy treats are sold to all students at recess and lunch.
Of course, I wanted to bake and bake I did!!
I made 60 cupcakes for the day and all were completely nut-free vanilla cakes topped with a light as air swiss meringue buttercream.
The toppers were a mixture of little and big girls and boys delights.
PS - Apologies for v. bad quality photos, I was runnign out the door to help at the canteen and the day was a rainy days treat, hence no natural light.

Some of the girls delights - shimmery butterflies, gift bows and tiaras

A mixture of girls and boys -
for the boys - martians and Transformers (I was told to hold a transformers one for me please Mum!)
for the girls - hearts and daisies
and the rest of the boys treats - basket and footballs, stars and x-box controls.

All monies raised went directly to our school's Parish, St Charles Borromeo. A very worthy and successful day.

iPad Birthday Cake

iPad fever is just about to hit Oz, but Kevin has already got his from the US and on a recent overseas holiday to celebrate his half century, the iPad was his entertainment for the entire trip!!
So the perfect treat for his little birthday celebration at home was an edible version of the iPad.
The background face of the iPad was handpainted to replicate the iPad screensaver. And anyone with an iPhone or iPod will easily understand the apps buttons that I have included.
The cake is a chocolate mud cake with dark chocolate ganache.

I'm sure that Kevin's iPad has ALOT more apps!!

Happy 50th Kevin!!

A Set of Fire Fighters Cupcakes

A little boy named Josh, who loves anything to do with fire fighting, celebrated his 4th birthday on the weekend playing with his friends at Playdays in Gladesville.
Josh's dad is a fire fighter so his love of everything fire is no surprise.
These 20 themed cupcakes will certainly put the "fire out" of the sugar cravings of his partygoers!!

A Frangipani Bunch Christening Cake

A Christening cake that really inspired me.
A loving aunt ordered this Christening cake for her little niece for her Christening day. She wanted something not too babyish, but something girly and elegant and also something that honoured the memory of her late mother.
Her mother, and Maya's grandmother Maryanne, passed away last year just before Maya was born and loved flowers, especially frangipanis!
I think the result is a fitting tribute to Maryanne and a beautiful and elegant cake to celebrate this special religious milestone!

the stems of the bunch

A big bunch of edible frangipanis!

Congratulations Maya for your special day and may Gold bless you always.
