Noah's Bird Themed Christening Cake

Finally the photos have come back and now I can show you the photo's from our little boy's Christening.
Ever since I found out the wonderful news that we were blessed to be expecting our 3rd child ... my first thought was "yeahhhh, I get to plan another Christening and make a cake!"
I knew early on what colour scheme I wanted, and then the theme popped up!
Little Blue Birds ... as Noah is the last little bird to feather our nest!
So, 1st step get the invitations done.
What to do, what to do ...
I wanted simple and elegant and with the colour scheme. I finally decided on shadow boxes with a simple invitation displayed inside.
Then onto the day.
I was worried that Noah would not fit into his little outfit. Our boys have all worn the same outfit, bit of a tradition. However, Noah's was a little younger than the other two on their day - but it fit him well and he was super cute in it.

Smiles while getting dressed

I cannot believe how lucky we are to have this little person in our life!

My beautiful family .... I told you, I am surrounded by gorgeous men! Probably didn't believe me - now you know it is true!

The day was sooooo humid - the only downer really.
After our beautiful ceremony at St Charles, we headed off to Ottimo Italian Kitchen in Hunters Hill for our celebration lunch.
The food and company were divine.
Here are the photos of the little things I created for the day:

Embossed "N" cookie sticks as bomboniere for the kids.
They also got a bag to fill with different blue and chocolate coloured lollies (thanks Leanne)!

These were the place settings.

These were the bomboniere. They were mini garden shovels and enclosed in the envelope were wildflower seeds for everyone to plant.
The saying I composed read:
Our nest is feathered
Our garden is sown
Our family is complete
Our home is full grown!

Thanks to the wonderful Cyle of Classique Memories for the garden shovels and bird nests. Visit their online store for fantastic bomboniere and invitation ideas. Click here.

And finally the Christening cake.
I had soooo many ideas running through my head and sooo many things that I wanted to do. I finally decided on a mix of some ideas I had been putting together. I think it worked well and I LOVED how the cake looked.
The bottom tier is decadent chocolate mud cake filled with hazelnut swiss meringue buttercream and dark chocolate ganache and then covered in dark chocolate ganache.
The next tier is a carrot/walnut cake filled and covered with white chocolate ganache.
The other 2 tiers, as well as the bird cake, are all fondant covered styrofoam.
I needed the height, but not that amount of cake!
The bird tier is completely handpainted in edible food colouring.
The top blue tier is shimmery blue.
The bird cage was hand made and had "NOAH" embossed on the side. Blue ruffle roses are inside the cage.

The oversized magnolia.

Finally, Larry & I with our little man.
A beautiful day spent with the most wonderful people that share our life.
God Bless You always Noah.
With love Mum & Dad
xx

Ahhh, now I get it, I believe each cake has a story. After seeing this on Facebook, I was blown away with it...But after learning the story that this was for your son Noah..and looking at all the other themed treats. I love it. Stunning work Jackie, you inspire me. :)
