A lovely return customer came to me a little while ago to arrange a combined Christening and 1st Birthday cake for their newest addition Ivy.
Marisa originally had another one of previous designs in mind for the cake, but we decided to incorporate elements of the invitation to the cake to make it more personal. The design was then left to me and this pretty, whimsical bird inspired cake was the result. Marisa was extremely happy and I am sure that the guests would've been also.
The twiggy branches are the only edible part of the cake. These were used as decoration on the day and we decided to incorporate these into the design. I love the different texture it bought to the cake.
The bottom tier is dark chocolate mud cake with dark chocolate ganache.
The top tier is white chocolate coconut mud cake with white chocolate ganache.
All decorations (except the twigs) are handmade and completely edible.
I love the whimsy and muted colour tones of the cake.
Such a sweet little bird for the top!
Marisa also ordered a dozen "Leo" cupcakes. A number of her guests celebrate their birthdays in August, so she wanted to get them all something a little special! What a caring hostess with the mostess!God Bless You Always Ivy!
