Ruffled Blooms & Rocking Horse Christening Cake

Beautiful little Siena-Rose celebrated the Christening day today and this ruffley number took centre stage on the cake table.

Siena's mum loved my previous "Isla" cake but we made a few changes. The bottom extended tier was covered in an ombre of pink ruffled blooms and the top tier was given a shiny lustre treatment. The little handmade rocking horse sat a top the entire creation.

All decorations are handmade by myself and completely edible.

The bottom tier is vanilla with raspberry swirl cake with white chocolate ganache and the top tier is vanilla/chocolate marble cake with dark chocolate ganache.

The celebration lunch was held at the gorgeous Pappardellerestaurant in Haberfield. For those of you in Sydney - you may remember Joe from Stars at Gigis. He was a mainstay on the Darling Street strip for many, many years. Pappardelle is his new venture and I cannot wait to get there myself to eat his wonderful food once again!

May God Always Bless You Siena-Rose!

Pink & White Cupcake Set

This sweet little set of cupcakes with cutting cake was made for Valentina's Christening day.

Valentina's mum sent me a picture of the design that she was after (I do not know the original artist to credit). This was my interpretation of the design brief.

The top cutting cake was kept simple with a name plaque and little pink hat jewellery box on top. The set of cupcakes were a mix of embossed "V", bracelet, cross and jewellery box.

The cake and cupcakes are all vanilla and chocolate marble cake with dark chocolate ganache.

May God Bless You always Valentina!

Cute as a Button Birthday Cake

This is a blast from the past - 6 months past to be exact!

Nicole from Pretty and Print ordered this cake for her daughter Tahlia's 1st birthday back in February.

Nicole had designed the cutest ever invitations for this "Pie" and buttons themed party. The little character is an actual character called Pie and Tahlia loves her little Pie a lot! This cake was designed based off Nicole's invitations.

The party, which was so beautifully styled by Nicole, along with my cake is featured in the winter edition of My little jedi out today!

Happy 1st Birthday Tahlia!

Roll up, Roll up Carnival Themed Birthday Cake

Such a pleasure to deal with lovely clients who have faith in trying something a little different! My lovely client Tash, initially wanted one of my previous circus themed cakes, but with little to no persuasion, I managed to sell her a different idea.

Carnival to me, means rides and lots of ride tickets! The bottom double barrelled tier is completely covered in ride token tickets. These were beautifully designed by Nicole from Pretty and Print and then printed as an edible image.

The top tier is the vintage carousel tier. The beautiful vintage blue, matched with the rich reds and lots of ornate golden touches gave this tier the old vintage look.

The carousel is a hand carved cone and base from styrofoam then covered in the traditional ride and white of these rides. Little circus animals take a ride on the carousel ..... the shaggy, retro looking lion, the trick loving elephant and the impish looking monkey. Tash also wanted to incorporate a clown, so he was the master of the cake and took pride of place out the front!

Everything is handmade on this by me. The carousel top and bottom is the only inedible part. All animals and the clown and moulded from fondant.

From top to bottom this cake is HUGE. It is 24" in height!

The bottom tier is white chocolate raspberry mud cake with white chocolate ganache and the top tier is vanilla sponge cake with white chocolate ganache.

An Ombre Pinkalicious Babushka Birthday Cake & Treats

My lovely client Amy requested a ruffle cake off me a while ago for her daughter Isla's 1st birthday. We went through a few (ok more than a few) different design options, but we kept coming back to the same idea - pink, ruffled ombre!

The bottom tier is a 4 toned ombre ruffled cake with a lot of layers of fondant ruffles. The top tier was given a baby pink lustre finish and I decided to put a few little layers of ruffles at the bottom.

To go along with the beautiful babushka themed invitations and printables that Amy had made by Sarah at Style Me Gorgeous, a set of 3 babushka dolls graced the top of the cake. The babushka design is based off the beautiful printables.

The cake itself is also ombre on the inside! {Please Amy, I need to see photos when it is cut}! 4 layers of ombre pink vanilla cake for both tiers and they are layered and covered in white chocolate ganache.

This weekend, I definitely got my girly on!

Happy Birthday Isla!

A Funky Little Circus Cake

One of my lovely customers wanted a 1st birthday cake for her son's 1st circus birthday. She had seen my "recycled circus cake" and wanted the same for her party!

I love this design, quite different and fun! All of the details are handmade and completely edible - except for the ball the monkey is sitting on (fondant covered styrofoam).

The retro straws holding up the sign at the back are from Sweet Style.

The striped cake and the little cake at the front are both chocolate/vanilla marble with dark chocolate ganache and the blue spotty cake is white chocolate raspberry mud with white chocolate ganache.

Happy 1st Birthday Matthew!

Buttons & Butterflies Christening Cake

My client requested my butterflies cake design, with some changes to match the Christening theme.

The invitations and the bomboniere were all "Cute as a Button" themed and in these lovely shades of pastel. I decided to use the button motif on the middle tier and have them in rows (as in the invitation design). The butterflies I changed up a little bit and dusted them in shades of pink shimmer. Such a little girl's celebration cake! The cake looked spectacular at the venue, Olivetto, which is on the waterside at Rhodes.

The bottom tier is chocolate mud cake with dark chocolate ganache. The middle and top tiers are marbled vanilla and chocolate sponge cakes with white chocolate ganache.

May God Bless you!

Hula Girl 1st Birthday Cake

My lovely client Loreta called me about Vittoria's upcoming 1st birthday! Loreta is a graphic designer and knew what she kind of wanted, but left it to me (well kind of ..... she checked in alot!).

We decided on a grass skirt finish to the bottom of the cake and the top tier was completed surrounded in fondant bamboo! The little hula girl on top of completely handmade and her hula skirt matches Vittoria's little skirt. Surrounding the base of the cake and the top is crushed up milk arrowroot biscuits .... now that is some yummy sand! A lei of fondant flowers draped over the bamboo finished off the cake.

The cake is chocolate mud cake with dark chocolate ganache.

Happy 1st Birthday Vittoria!

A Farm Themed 1st Birthday Cake

Laura contacted me about her son's Farm birthday party and she emailed me a copy of the invitation, which had a cute barn and some animals on it. I decided to use this as the design theme for the cake.

I mixed up all the different elements to the cake. The grass was all handpainted onto the sides of the cake and then 2D elements were added, such as the white picket fence and the sunflowers (which were also on the invite). The 3D elements then added that extra pop with the fun details - like the cow and sheep with a birthday cake on top and a ducky in a pond and at the last minute I decided to have a little piggy have his head pop over the fence!

The barn was not in my original design, I did not want it to look too busy. However, when I was putting the cake together, it needed that extra pop of something on top, so I added a 2D standing up barn and then .... ta da .... the cake!

Loved this cake and the fun"ness" of it.  Laura - was at first speechless, then excited and then speechless and then exclaimed that she did not think she could cut the cake up!

The cake is chocolate mud cake with dark chocolate ganache! All decorations are completely handmade and edible.

The little farm animals

I could almost just cut straight into that teeny tiny cake!

Happy 1st Birthday Manuel!

Buttercream & Umbrella Baby Shower Cake

A simple baby shower cake made to match the colours and theme of the invitation.

My client wanted something simple for a baby shower that she was helping to organise. The invitations were in this lovely green and lemon colour tone and had a cute little umbrella as the motif.

This is the first time I have tried this buttercream treatment that I first saw and loved from Fondant Flinger. I wanted to incorporate a pattern in the buttercream and thought of this. It matched the theme I thought and topped with the little ruffly umbrella, it was the perfect finish!

The cake is vanilla sponge cake, layered and covered in vanilla buttercream.

 Congratulations!

St Joan of Arc Christening Cake

A lovely repeat client of mine ordered this cake for her daughter's Christening day.

This cake has a lot of meaning. Olivia's middle name is "Joan" and so to incorporate this, she decided to make the make a Joan of Arc theme. Hence the Collosseum as the "cake" and then a sugar Joan and her horse made the whole scene.

This cake had me stumped for a while and I worked for quite some time to work out the best way to pull it together. The cake had so much meaning, I wanted to give it proper justice. I Google imaged so many different photos of Joan and her horse and this is my interpretation.

The client was completed floored by the cake and "exceeded every expectation she had!"

Can't beat that!

May God Bless you Always!

Ruffles, Booties & Blooms Naming Day Cake

My lovely client Louise (who was married 2 days ago and was the recipient of my stencilled cake with ivory roses) also ordered this cake for her daughter Taia's Naming Day which took place yesterday.

The design was left completely to me. I was only informed that it should not be religious and that she would like to incorporate the colours of pink and mint green. I had seen a cake on Pinterest a while ago and loved the effect of the cake. I used the design as an inspiration starting point and went from there.

I thought that booties would look great on top. I wanted something different to what I had seen before, so to tie in with the ruffled flowers, I made some ruffled booties. These turned out soooo super sweet, didn't want to let go of them!  I finished the cake off with some big ruffled blooms across the side and some coordinating fan circles.

The cake is a white chocolate raspberry mud cake with white chocolate ganache.

May God Bless You Taia!

Hoot the Owl Birthday Cake

This is one of my most requested and popular cake designs!

Rex's mum called me to request this cake as her son is mad for Hoot! She is having a huge celebration tomorrow (100+ people) and Hoot will be taking pride of place at the celebration. However, she wanted this cake only for themselves as she knew she could not cut him up for anyone else!

All handmade and Hoot is carved and covered styrofoam.
The cake is carrot cake with white chocolate ganache.

Happy Birthday Rex!

Hoot the Owl Birthday Cake

This ever so cute may seem very familiar, well that is because he is one of my most requested cake designs.

Oliver's mum requested this cake for his birthday as he loves Hoot!   Jenny loved my previous cake and decided on exactly the same for Oliver's celebration.

The cake is vanilla cake, filled and covered in white chocolate ganache.   Everything is edible and Hoot is carved and covered styrofoam!  Oliver can keep Hoot after he has eaten his cake!

All of Hoot's cute little details!

Happy 2nd Birthday Oliver!

Jumbo the Elephant 1st Birthday Cake

I have nicknamed this little guy Jumbo!   I loved him so!   However this was my second version, due to humidity!

I had the pleasure last year to make some beautiful cookies for Jack's Christening.   It was now his 1st Birthday and time to celebrate.   Jack's mum loved my hoot cake and wanted something similar but with changes.   The invitations had an elephant with a balloon on it and we incorporated the elephant ala Hoot - with those same gorgeous eyes and of course a balloon.   I then wrapped the blanket design from my hoot cake around the tiers and changed some colours around and wa-la a new version!

The cake is a chocolate/vanilla marble cake with chocolate ganache.   The birthday festivities were held in the bungalows at Woolwich Pier Hotel.

Photo taken on site and with his now glossy balloon!   Still loving Jumbo!
Happy 1st Birthday Jack!
