A Power Crunch Birthday Cake

One of my lovely clients requested this cake for her hubby's business partner's birthday. Warren is apparently addicted to PowerCrunch protein bars, so he got his own super sized and maybe slightly more carb loaded PowerCrunch bar!

I scanned the actual wrapper of the bar and then had printed on edible images. I then added in the rest of the little details and as a last minute touch, made the bar look like it had been opened and taken a chunk out of! The actual protein bar looks a lot like the chocolate mud cake on the inside, however it is definitely the poor cousin on the taste side!

With the actual PowerCrunch wrapper!

Happy Birthday Warren!

Congratulations Room to Read ........ with a cake!

I have been affiliated with the very worthwhile charity Room to Read for some time now and their work is extraordinary and benefits to children in developing countries is magnificent.   Read more about Room to Read here.

This is my 12 hour turnaround cake!   The lovely Jennie of Room to Read is a tireless lady who does so much work for this wonderful cause that I would always try and make room to do something back - even if it means late night baking and last minute decorating!

Last weekend, Room to Read Australia hosted their annual wine gala and raised over $1 million dollars for this wonderful cause!   Jennie wanted to thank the wonderful volunteers that helped make the event happen.  She wanted something sweet to take with her to celebrate and it was also one of the deciated volunteers birthdays.

The cake is a lemon poppyseed cake with lemon scented buttecream.   The books and cupcake were all handmade by me and were carved and covered styrofoam.   I made the cupcake at the last minute, especially for the birthday gal!

Congratulations Room to Read on all your fantastic work and Happy Birthday Margaret!

Mums & Sons Cake for Newington College

One of my lovely clients came to me a little while ago to ask for me to make a cake for her son's school, Newington College.

They were planning their annual Mums & Sons Year 6 dinner and wanted a cake to serve.

The cake was to be simple and elegant and to have the school insignia - we decided on this simple design - it needed to feed 125 people!

The cake is chocolate mud cake with chocolate ganache. There was also a separate kitchen cutting cake to serve the numbers!

The dinner was held tonight at the glorious Deckhouse at Woolwich Pier. Sydney put on a perfect evening at this wonderful venue on the shores of Sydney Harbour.

It was LARGE!

In place at the venue - nice view!

I hope you all had a fantastic night!

Room to Read Wine Gala 2011 Cake Donations

I have been involved with the global charity Room to Read for a number of years now and I am constantly uplifted by the wonderful work this charity performs. For more information on this wonderful cause, click here.
This year, I again donated a Blissfully Sweet Cake Voucher into their silent auction and to place as a display on the auction table, I put together a very simple cake tower.
This past month has been one of the busiest ever (seems that I need to say this EVERY month now, but fortunately it is very true!). Anyway .... this past month left no time for much at all, and I did initially plan to have more as a display, but alas this simple tower had to do!
The tower did its job though .... on the evening the Wine Gala as a whole raised $892,000!
So many more libraries and schools as well as scholarships are now underway.

An Australian Themed Cake for an Australian Themed Trivia Night

It was the night of Liam's school Trivia Night.
Blissfully Sweet donated a gift voucher into the silent auction and this was the "display cake" that I designed and presented for the auction table.
The theme of the night was Australian Icons, Idols and Oddities. I tried to encapsulate a little of everything.
The cake was foam underneath and then completely covered in fondant. All the cake decorations were handmade from icing and completely edible.
Such a fun night was had, but more importantly, a lot of money was raised for our wonderful school, St Charles.
Our school decided to generously donate 10% of all proceeds to a fabulous and worthy charity, Giant Steps. Giant Steps is a leader in providing new horizons for children with Autism.
Why not donate now? Click here.

Ready for the display table.

The East Coast icons - Ned Kelly and convicts, the Opera House, the Big Banana and the Big Pineapple.

Probably our most recognised Icon, Uluru, with some icons of our original heritage - the didgeridoo and the boomerang.
Some West Coast, and national, Icons - the humble surfboard, BBQ and the gumnut.

Great whites can be found off our shores.

Our largest living icon - the Great Barrier Reef

Many states have their own prize winning wine regions and one of our best known is the Barossa Valley in South Australia.

Very proud to call Australia home.
Congratulations to Thelma - the highest bidder on the evening.
I look forward to creating a Blissfully Sweet cake for you.
xoxo

A "Wendy" Cake Donation Prize

"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."
– Nelson Mandela
Room to Read believes that World Change Starts with Educated Children. Their vision is a world in which all children can pursue a quality education that enables them to reach their full potential and contribute to their community and the world.
I was given the priveledge to contribute to this highly valuable charity last Friday evening at their annual Wine Gala.
This little Wendy cake was given to the lucky winner of the children's party package, which included a cartooning birthday party where the guest of honour will be the extremely talented cartoonist Gus Gordon. Gus has recently published a fabulous children's book depicting the tales of a very extraordinary chicken named Wendy.
This cake was on display for the prize and went home with the lucky winner, where at a later date they will be able to order their own Blissfully Sweet cake.
