Ruffled Blooms & Rocking Horse Christening Cake

Beautiful little Siena-Rose celebrated the Christening day today and this ruffley number took centre stage on the cake table.

Siena's mum loved my previous "Isla" cake but we made a few changes. The bottom extended tier was covered in an ombre of pink ruffled blooms and the top tier was given a shiny lustre treatment. The little handmade rocking horse sat a top the entire creation.

All decorations are handmade by myself and completely edible.

The bottom tier is vanilla with raspberry swirl cake with white chocolate ganache and the top tier is vanilla/chocolate marble cake with dark chocolate ganache.

The celebration lunch was held at the gorgeous Pappardellerestaurant in Haberfield. For those of you in Sydney - you may remember Joe from Stars at Gigis. He was a mainstay on the Darling Street strip for many, many years. Pappardelle is his new venture and I cannot wait to get there myself to eat his wonderful food once again!

May God Always Bless You Siena-Rose!

Orange Buttercream Ruffle Cake

Maria ordered this little ruffled beauty for her daughter's astronaut themed birthday today. It really is a mini cake in size, only 5", but there is a lot of yumminess crammed into this small package!

The cake is strawberry/vanilla swirl cake filled, covered and ruffled into decadent vibrant orange buttercream.

Happy Birthday !

Pink & White Cupcake Set

This sweet little set of cupcakes with cutting cake was made for Valentina's Christening day.

Valentina's mum sent me a picture of the design that she was after (I do not know the original artist to credit). This was my interpretation of the design brief.

The top cutting cake was kept simple with a name plaque and little pink hat jewellery box on top. The set of cupcakes were a mix of embossed "V", bracelet, cross and jewellery box.

The cake and cupcakes are all vanilla and chocolate marble cake with dark chocolate ganache.

May God Bless You always Valentina!

A Rainbow Rufflicious Birthday Cake

Lina from Chanele Rose Flowers & Events asked me to make a cake for her daughter's birthday this weekend. All I was told was it was rainbow theme and "do what you want"! Yippee!

My love of ruffles is widely known, but I wanted to try my hand at some rainbow ruffles! Let the ruffle marathon begin!

I ruffled the sides and thought it would be cool to do the top also! Loved that effect! Then when I was done, I sat back and thought it needed something a little more on top! Rainbow ruffled pom pom balls was called for!!!

Such a fun and bright cake and Lina saw it and teared up - hands down best reaction!!

Happy Birthday Chanele!

Cute as a Button Birthday Cake

This is a blast from the past - 6 months past to be exact!

Nicole from Pretty and Print ordered this cake for her daughter Tahlia's 1st birthday back in February.

Nicole had designed the cutest ever invitations for this "Pie" and buttons themed party. The little character is an actual character called Pie and Tahlia loves her little Pie a lot! This cake was designed based off Nicole's invitations.

The party, which was so beautifully styled by Nicole, along with my cake is featured in the winter edition of My little jedi out today!

An Ombre Pinkalicious Babushka Birthday Cake & Treats

My lovely client Amy requested a ruffle cake off me a while ago for her daughter Isla's 1st birthday. We went through a few (ok more than a few) different design options, but we kept coming back to the same idea - pink, ruffled ombre!

The bottom tier is a 4 toned ombre ruffled cake with a lot of layers of fondant ruffles. The top tier was given a baby pink lustre finish and I decided to put a few little layers of ruffles at the bottom.

To go along with the beautiful babushka themed invitations and printables that Amy had made by Sarah at Style Me Gorgeous, a set of 3 babushka dolls graced the top of the cake. The babushka design is based off the beautiful printables.

The cake itself is also ombre on the inside! {Please Amy, I need to see photos when it is cut}! 4 layers of ombre pink vanilla cake for both tiers and they are layered and covered in white chocolate ganache.

This weekend, I definitely got my girly on!

An Ombre Pink Ruffled Barbie Birthday Cake

One of my ever so lovely clients requested a Barbie cake a little while ago after she saw my buttercream rosette Barbie cake. That was what was planned, until Janine saw my moccha ruffle cake last week and decided that Barbie needed to upscale and instead she put on a couture ombre ruffled gown!

The back of the gown in gathered and pleated and opens at the front to the ombre of ruffles (they actually sparkle in the sunlight also)!  The bodice is ruffled also and comes over one shoulder for a very in vogue style of gown! Barbie is looking mighty fine!

The cake is a chocolate sponge cake with chocolate ganache.

Happy Birthday Charlissa!

A Ruffled Ombre Moccha Engagement Cake

My gorgeous client Kathy contacted me a while ago to arrange her engagement cake. I was very humbled when I asked her what she would like, she said that she was inspired by the colours I used in my Christmas table last year (shades of moccha) and that she wanted one of my ruffly type cakes with one of my type of flowers!

The venue was more old world, so this was something that fit in quite well with the ambience and her gorgeous sister was setting up a little candy table to go with these colours.

I decided on an ombre of ruffled blooms for the bottom tier (I am guessing there is maybe about 1100+ ruffled blooms there - RSI hello!!). The top tier was a textured look with some embossed bands and fondant pearls and then a single ombre ruffled big bloom on top.

There was also a set of ombre ruffled bloom cupcakes to go with, which I never got a chance to photograph.

The bottom tier is white chocolate raspberry mud cake with white chocolate ganache and the top tier is chocolate sponge cake with dark chocolate ganache.

Congratulations!

Buttons & Butterflies Christening Cake

My client requested my butterflies cake design, with some changes to match the Christening theme.

The invitations and the bomboniere were all "Cute as a Button" themed and in these lovely shades of pastel. I decided to use the button motif on the middle tier and have them in rows (as in the invitation design). The butterflies I changed up a little bit and dusted them in shades of pink shimmer. Such a little girl's celebration cake! The cake looked spectacular at the venue, Olivetto, which is on the waterside at Rhodes.

The bottom tier is chocolate mud cake with dark chocolate ganache. The middle and top tiers are marbled vanilla and chocolate sponge cakes with white chocolate ganache.

May God Bless you!

Runway/Catwalk Themed Cake

I recently had the pleasure of working again with Natalie of Events By Nat. She was planning her sister-in-law's upcoming 21st Runway/Catwalk themed birthday. Natalie had seen a cake on Style Unveiled website and wanted a very similar cake with some changes to it. The cake was big, carved and had many different elements! I knew I wanted to give it a go!

So with the black and white theme for the table, the cake took its shape. The bottom tier is embossed all over to look like fabric and has cascading slate grey ruffled (like fabric) flowers down the side. The middle tier is a carved hour glass triple stacked cake. It is covered in little discs to look like sequins.

The 3rd tier has large pink ruffled blooms all the way around the bottom and the tier is wrapped in white bands with little embossed black fondant buttons running up the front. The top tier is carved styrofoam and covered in the same black little discs and then topped off with the same pink and grey ruffled fabric blooms. The bottom and 3rd tier is chocolate mud cake with chocolate ganache.

The middle tier is white chocolate raspberry mudcake with white chocolate ganache.I usually love to take my own photos at home, but as you can imagine this cake was quite fragile and I needed to deliver it 1 hour away! Hence, the top half was stacked when I arrived.

I could not get a lot of photos of the cake, but you will see how beautiful it all looked on the table!  Such a gorgeous table that you created Nat!

The table was featured this morning on Amy Atlas http://blog.amyatlas.com/2012/04/slave-for-fashion-guest-dessert-feature/.

Hula Girl 1st Birthday Cake

My lovely client Loreta called me about Vittoria's upcoming 1st birthday! Loreta is a graphic designer and knew what she kind of wanted, but left it to me (well kind of ..... she checked in alot!).

We decided on a grass skirt finish to the bottom of the cake and the top tier was completed surrounded in fondant bamboo! The little hula girl on top of completely handmade and her hula skirt matches Vittoria's little skirt. Surrounding the base of the cake and the top is crushed up milk arrowroot biscuits .... now that is some yummy sand! A lei of fondant flowers draped over the bamboo finished off the cake.

The cake is chocolate mud cake with dark chocolate ganache.

Happy 1st Birthday Vittoria!

Buttercream & Umbrella Baby Shower Cake

A simple baby shower cake made to match the colours and theme of the invitation.

My client wanted something simple for a baby shower that she was helping to organise. The invitations were in this lovely green and lemon colour tone and had a cute little umbrella as the motif.

This is the first time I have tried this buttercream treatment that I first saw and loved from Fondant Flinger. I wanted to incorporate a pattern in the buttercream and thought of this. It matched the theme I thought and topped with the little ruffly umbrella, it was the perfect finish!

The cake is vanilla sponge cake, layered and covered in vanilla buttercream.

 Congratulations!

St Joan of Arc Christening Cake

A lovely repeat client of mine ordered this cake for her daughter's Christening day.

This cake has a lot of meaning. Olivia's middle name is "Joan" and so to incorporate this, she decided to make the make a Joan of Arc theme. Hence the Collosseum as the "cake" and then a sugar Joan and her horse made the whole scene.

This cake had me stumped for a while and I worked for quite some time to work out the best way to pull it together. The cake had so much meaning, I wanted to give it proper justice. I Google imaged so many different photos of Joan and her horse and this is my interpretation.

The client was completed floored by the cake and "exceeded every expectation she had!"

Can't beat that!

May God Bless you Always!

Ruffles, Booties & Blooms Naming Day Cake

My lovely client Louise (who was married 2 days ago and was the recipient of my stencilled cake with ivory roses) also ordered this cake for her daughter Taia's Naming Day which took place yesterday.

The design was left completely to me. I was only informed that it should not be religious and that she would like to incorporate the colours of pink and mint green. I had seen a cake on Pinterest a while ago and loved the effect of the cake. I used the design as an inspiration starting point and went from there.

I thought that booties would look great on top. I wanted something different to what I had seen before, so to tie in with the ruffled flowers, I made some ruffled booties. These turned out soooo super sweet, didn't want to let go of them!  I finished the cake off with some big ruffled blooms across the side and some coordinating fan circles.

The cake is a white chocolate raspberry mud cake with white chocolate ganache.

Moulin Rouge Risque Bohemian Parisian themed 40th birthday cake

That was a mouthful!

The design was left to me after the brief given above. Steff, the birthday gal, had some Toulouse paintings that she had for inspiration, so I decided to handpaint my interpretation of one of his gorgeous oil paintings.

Some can can legs added that something extra to the top of the cake and gave it the risque element!

The cake is white chocolate raspberry mud cake with white chocolate ganache. All decorations are handmade and completely edible. The painting has all been handpainted using edible food colourings.

The cake in its finery!
